Coach Joe is the original founder and CEO of Varsity House. He started training seriously when he was twelve years old, and it has been his passion ever since. He holds a Masters Degree in Human Physiology and has been Anatomy & Physiology Professor at Montclair State University of over a decade. Now having been training athletes and like-minded individuals for nearly 20 years, he has a wealth of firsthand knowledge. His no-nonsense scientific approach to training has help develop some of the country’s best athletes in their respective sports.

Dan Goodman is the Co-Owner of Varsity House Gym and Founder of Varsity Highlights HD.   Dan was a Full-Scholarship Student-Athlete and graduate of the University of Rhode Island.   While on the Gridiron, he was a two year starter and appeared in over 30 collegiate games.  As a Red-Shirt Senior, Dan also authored a weekly player blog which was featured on &   Dan has traveled extensively with the specific purpose of learning from some of the best Strength and Conditioning Coaches and business leaders in the industry.   During the last five years, some of the seminars he has worked and attended include Gym Jones, Westside Barbell, Ohio State University, Villanova University, The Under Armor All American Game, Junior Rank All-American Combine, and The Fit Business Insider. Prior to the Varsity House move to 337 Blaisdell, Dan has coached close to 10,000 hours on the gym floor.  Along with training, Dan acts as Varsity House and Varsity Highlights in house Recruiting Coordinator, sending out training clips and highlight videos of our athletes to prospective colleges and universities. 

Over the years, we have secured millions of dollars in scholarship money for Team VH athletes.

 Joe McNerney is  a product of Varsity House Gym.  Before he started working for Varsity House, he was training here for several years. He studied at Montclair State University, where he graduated with a Bachelors in  Exercise Science with a concentration in physical education and health.  He is a certified Hardstyle kettle bell instructor (HKC).  He enjoys coaching and always has enthusiasm with athletes and adults.

Served on Active Duty in the U.S. Army for 8 years with two combat deployments spanning over 2 years combined. As a leader of men it was my responsibility to ensure the soldiers under my supervision were mentally and physically fit. This was accomplished by group physical training from hand-to-hand combat training, road marches, obstacle courses and of course group exercise sessions known as PT. After finishing active duty my roles were significantly changed from Infantry to Combat Medic in the Army Reserve and on the civilian side finishing an under graduate degree in Exercise Science and enrolling in the same program at the graduate level at Montclair State University. Currently I am a nationally competitive athlete in the sport of Strongman, PA Dutch Strongest, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and I specialize in the training of tactical athletes.

Simone is a graduate of Montclair State University with a degree in nutrition and food science.  She is also a Certified Personal Trainer with The Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA.).  Simone spent four months undergoing an extensive training mentorship program here at Varsity House.  Having her nutrition degree and training knowledge gives her a unique ability to offer clients a complete fitness solution.

In her athletic career Sineaid competed in Track and Field Nationals three years in a row in two different events. (Hammer and Weight throws) Continued onto college with a multiple Championship Division 1 Track and Field team at the University at Albany.  Post college she was recruited to the USA Bobsled team.  Competed from 2012- Present. Her and her teammate placed 6th at Olympic team trials 2014 in Lake Placid. Aspires to compete in the next Olympic trials and games in Korea 2018. In accordance with training, she aspires to coach athletes building strong fundamentals and confidence in the younger generation. She is a certified USAW level Olympic lifting coach as well as certified Speed Agility and Quickness coach. She has coached middle school, high school and college level track and field teams writing programs specifically for throwers.

Mike Capriglione has a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science from Montclair State University. He is a certified USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach. Mike is a competitive Strongman affiliated with North American Strongman. He won the 2010/2014 New Jersey Strongest man and competed at the 2013 Lightweight American Strongman Nationals. Mike has been one of the Head Strength and Conditioning coaches at Varsity House since 2009. He is one of the leaders in Developing our Athletic Programs.

Graduated from Montclair State University  where Coach Joe Riggio was his professor.  Coach Adam has a background in business where he is our operations manager and helps implement our sales/marketing/ front desk operations. Furthermore,  Coach Adam has extensive experience in coaching basketball athletes and runs our Varsity Hoops program. Experiences include coaching the  nationally recognized AAU team the NJ Road runners with hundreds of D1 athletes  and all American players. Assisted in the development of the Montclair State Men' basketball strength and conditioning program.

Bachelors degree is Exercise Science, Minor in Business with a concentration in management , Masters Certification in Business and Sports Law from Villanova University, NASM - Sports Performance Enhancement Certification.
